Media
Media
The Media library is the central asset store for your organisation. Every image used on a catalogue item, every photo on a portal day, and every brand element used in a document template lives here and is referenced from many places.
The media gallery
The media gallery is a grid of thumbnails with these tools:
- Search by title, description, or tag.
- Tag filters with include / exclude logic.
- Place filters: Find images by where they were taken.
- Dimension filters: e.g. find landscape-oriented hero images.
- Thumbnail size slider: Adjust how many items fit on screen.
- Display fields: Toggle which metadata fields show on each tile (title, dimensions, file size, etc).
Uploading media
Drag and drop files into the gallery or use the Upload button. Supported file types include common image formats (JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF), PDFs, and other document formats.
Multiple files can be uploaded at once. You can apply tags and other metadata at upload time or in bulk afterwards.
Media properties
Each media item has:
- Title and description.
- Dimensions and file size (auto-detected for images).
- Tags for filtering and search.
- Places the image relates to.
- Custom fields depending on your organisation's setup.
Image variants and sizes
Tourbox automatically generates resized variants of images suitable for thumbnails, portal day headers, document hero images, and other use cases. You don't need to upload multiple sizes; the platform handles that for you. Available size presets can be configured under Reference → Lists.
Collections
For thematic groupings (e.g. "Tuscany hero images"), create a Collection. A media item can appear in multiple collections.
Permissions
Adding, editing, and deleting media requires the media management permission. Other members have read-only access.
